The ways we develop our websites has changed a lot during the last years. However, one thing remains almost untouched and that is the importance of separating content from presentation. CSS Zen Garden proved this concept with CSS a long time ago, and now it’s good time to check back on some old favorites!

CSS Zen Garden is a website that provides some static mark-up and then challenges web designers to write CSS for it. The concept proves that CSS allows complete and total control over the style of a hypertext document.

While it is fun to see what you can achieve with modern web technologies; such as CSS3 and HTML5, we think that it is also fun to take a look at websites that was created some years ago. CSS Zen Garden is not as hyped today as it was when it started, but here are some of the neat designs that hides within its archives.
